Soh Clan Association and Soh Clan Mutual Benefit Association successfully concluded its 2025 Annual General Meeting, honouring long-standing contributions and rewarding outstanding scholars.
At 11:00 am on Sunday, 27th April 2025, Soh Clan Association and Soh Clan Mutual Benefit Association convened their 2025 Annual General Meeting at the SAFRA Toa Payoh Jubilee Garden Restaurant. The occasion also featured the presentation of Long Service Awards and the Scholarship and Bursary for Diligent Children of Members' awards. Over 160 members, their families, and awardee students attended, The atmosphere was warm and vibrant, showcasing the spirit of unity and cultural heritage within the Soh clan.
The proceedings were chaired by Mr Chao Yuan. The Soh Clan Mutual Benefit Association's Annual General Meeting was presided over by Chairperson Ms Yong Lan, with Vice-Chairpersons Mr Gen Rui and Ms Zu Yun, Secretary Mr Chong You, and Treasurer Mr Ya Cheng in attendance. In her address, Ms Yong Lan expressed gratitude for the clan members' support, reviewed the association's development, and emphasized the importance of mutual aid and clan cohesion. The assembly deliberated and approved the 2024 annual meeting resolutions, reviewed administrative and financial reports, and discussed member proposals.
The subsequent Soh Clan Association General Meeting was chaired by President Zhang Jiang PBM, with Vice-President Yong Lan, Secretary-General Kai Li, Treasurer Qing Xi BBM, and Welfare Director Zu Nan in attendance. President Zhang Jiang reviewed six major achievements in 2024: the successful transition of the 66th Executive and Supervisory Committee, membership growth, expansion of the education fund, participation in overseas exchanges, and the 95th anniversary celebrations. He outlined future development plans, emphasising the recruitment of younger members and the promotion of clan continuity and vitality through cultural and educational activities.
Following lunch, the assembly proceeded to the awards presentation. President Zhang Jiang presented commendations to three clan members for long-term service: Elders Zhiyi and Rongtai received Special Recognition Awards for 20 years of service, while Elder Jinnan was honoured for 50 years of dedicated contribution.
Subsequently, the ‘Scholarship and Bursary Awards for Diligent Descendants’ ceremony commenced. This year saw 23 awards presented, spanning primary school through polytechnic levels. Awards were conferred upon students in each category by Madam Jin De, Madam Yu Mei, Madam Yong Lan, Elder Neng Tong, and Elder Zu Nan respectively.
This well-organised and substantive assembly summarised the year's work. By honouring senior clan members and rewarding outstanding scholars, it exemplified the Soh clan's fine tradition of ‘unity, mutual assistance, and passing on the torch’. The Soh Clan Association and Soh Mutual Benefit Association will continue upholding principles of openness, inclusivity, and win-win cooperation to unite clan members, deepen connections, and advance cultural heritage and clan development.
